Mikhaela Mahony is a Brooklyn-based director of theatre and opera. She has developed work with New York City Opera, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Boston Lyric Opera, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, The Syndicate, F*it Club, City Lyric Opera, and the Collaborative Arts Ensemble; as well as The Juilliard School, the Chautauqua Institution, the Manhattan School of Music, and Columbia University. She is a frequent collaborator with the playwrights of EST/Youngblood, directing Abby Rosebrock’s Dido of Idaho in the Unfiltered Festival of 2015, and as a MainStage production in 2018, as well as brunches and Asking for Trouble plays. Other selected directing credits include: The Medium by Gian Carlo Menotti, Ted Rosenthal’s jazz opera Dear Erich, a multi-media piece on the life of artist-activist Tina Modotti, Shakespeare’s As You Like It, and The FantasticksSummer, Mikhaela’s debut as a film director, was an official selection at the Buffalo International Film Festival, Flathead Lake International Cinemafest, and FilmColumbia in Chatham, NY. Mikhaela is a volunteer artist with the 52nd Street Project and WIN.
