Nathaniel G. Nesmith is playwright, screenwriter, and theatre educator. His plays have had staged readings at St. Mark's Poetry Project (New York); Philadelphia Theatre Company (Philadelphia, PA); New Theatre (Boston, MA); Playwrights Horizons (New York); and New Dramatists (New York). He is a recipient of several writing fellowships, grants, and awards, including American Theatre Affiliated Writers Fellowship, Kluge Fellowship, Leadership Alliance Fellowship, Kahre/Richards Foundation Award, Dorothy and Dubose Heyward Estate Fellowship, and William Shelley Scholarship Award.  He has published theatre-related essays, profiles, interviews, and articles in American Theatre, The Dramatist, The Drama Review, The Black Scholar, American Music, The New York Times, The Yale Review, African American Review, New England Review, Text & Presentation, The Journal of American Drama and Theatre, and other publications.  He earned a BFA in theatre at Temple University and an MFA in playwriting from Columbia University.  He is a member of the Ensemble Studio Playwrights Unit and The Dramatists Guild.
