Come celebrate this year's graduating Youngblood writers and the last Brunch of the season with five brand new plays about best possible scenarios by the graduating writers of Youngblood, along with pancakes, bacon and (young)bloody marys!

The Woods

EST/Youngblood Presents a Workshop of

The Woods

a new play by Jahna Ferron-Smith
directed by Colette Robert*

featuring Daniel Abeles, Lydian Blossom, Will Dagger, Bjorn DuPaty*, Starr Kirkland, Julius Powell, Drew Lewis*, & Naomi Lorrain

THE WOODS. explores our learned relationships to the "American" landscape--who’s taught to love it? Who's taught to fear it? Who's allowed to claim it?--and the consequences those cultural narratives have on young Black Americans, only just learning what being Black in today's "American landscape" might mean for them. Going forward, might there be a way to manifest a more positive narrative surrounding the natural environment, for the sake of all of those next in line to inherit it?..."

GEORGIA MERTCHING IS DEAD

EST’s previously announced production of GEORGIA MERTCHING IS DEAD by Catya McMullen will be rescheduled for our 2019/20 season.

GEORGIA MERTCHING IS DEAD

written by Catya McMullen
directed by Giovanna Sardelli*

featuring Daniel Abeles, Layla Khosh, Laura Ramadei, & Dina Thomas

Gretchen, Emma and Whitney are thirty. They've been friends since they were teenagers. They've been sober since they were teenagers. As they set off on a road trip south--with homemade female urination devices, too much pie, ill-advised sexual escapades--to celebrate and mourn a figure from their past, GEORGIA MERTCHING IS DEAD reveals what it's like to face adulthood and death after growing up weird and possibly broken.

Scenic Designer: Alexis Distler | Costume Designer: Sydney Maresca | Lighting Designer: Cat Tate Starmer | Sound Designer: Shane Rettig* | Props Master: Caitlyn Murphy | Stage Manager: Fran Acuña-Almiron
