Steven Fechter’s theatrical works have been produced throughout North America, Europe, and Australia. Recent productions include Lancelot (The Gym at Judson), Serpent’s Tooth (Theatre Bielefeld, in Bielefeld, Germany), and The Execution of Saint Luke (Gerald Lynch Theatre, John Jay College). In his film work Steven co-wrote the screenplay for the 2004 film The Woodsman (based on his play), starring Kevin Bacon. Steven’s published work includes The Woodsman, The Last Cigarette (Samuel French), The Commission (Theater der Zeit), The Artifacts (Indie Theater Now), and Serpent’s Tooth (Drei Masken Verlag). Honors and awards include guest artist at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama; first prize winner of the Slamdance Screenwriting Competition for The Woodsman; two-time winner of the Samuel French Short Play Festival for The Last Cigarette and Lunch with Jack; Humanitas Prize finalist in screenwriting for The Woodsman; four writing fellowships at Yaddo and a residency at New River Dramatists. Steven is proud of his membership with Oberon Theatre Ensemble, Resonance Ensemble, EST Playwrights Unit, and The Dramatists Guild.
