Matt Schatz is a playwright, librettist, lyricist and a composer. He won the 2012 Kleban Prize in Musical Theatre for Love Trapezoid (Astoria Performing Arts Center 2012). Other musicals and plays include Where Ever It May Be (EST/Sloan’s First Light Festival, 2014), Georama (St. Louis Rep’s Ignite Festival 2014), Dunkfest ’88 (Ars Nova ANT Fest, 2013), Oh, Gastronomy! (Humana Festival 2012) and The Tallest Building in the World (Luna Stage, 2011). Matt has received new play/musical commissions from the EST/Sloan Project, the Actors Theatre of Louisville, and from Broadway producer Jill Furman.  BFA: University of the Arts in Philadelphia. MFA: Carnegie Mellon University. Alumnus: Youngblood Writers Residency at EST, and Interstate 73 (at Page 73 Productions). Member: ASCAP, The BMI Musical Theatre Workshop, The Dramatists Guild, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Playwrights Union, and The Writers Guild of America. Also a television writer, Matt has sold TV pilots to Fox Television Studios and the USA Network. He is currently developing a number of other projects for the stage and the screen. Born in Camden, New Jersey and currently living in Los Angeles with his wife Jenna Hymes, Matt is a New Yorker.
