In February of 2000, EST purchased a multi-arts retreat facility in upstate Lexington, New York, the Lexington Center for the Arts, which is devoted to the cultural development of Greene County by hosting weekly retreats and public readings of new plays, and by providing residences to innovative dance groups with outreach to the community.

The Lexington Center for the Arts provides a perfect retreat setting. On-site buildings include a 10-bedroom residence (the Morse Inn), four residence cottages, a 125-seat Barn Theatre, the historic Lexington House, which include gallery space for visual art, the River Theatre, a flexible performance space and a 20-acre wiled-grass field. Expansive views of sky and mountains surround the property.

Our summer season, from June through October 2003, consisted of a Summer Conference, national and international dance residencies and performances, professional classes, community arts activities, and music and performance recitals. LCA gives opportunity to hundreds of artists and students, and provides rich cultural experiences for audiences.

The Lexington Center for the Arts will be devoted to the cultural development of Greene County by bringing world-renowned theatre and dance companies to the area.

Under the guidance of The Ensemble Studio Theatre, one of the nation’s premier developmental theatres, LCA will host weekly theatre retreats and public readings of new plays throughout the summer. LCA also offers creative haven to other national theatre and dance companies by providing residencies for the development of new work. The community is invited to attend performances by a wide variety of diverse artists.
