The EST/Sloan Project invites you to its annual
Artist Cultivation Event
Wednesday, November 18 at 7pm
on the EST Second Floor

This event brings scientists and science journalists to EST to discuss science advancements, developments and the stories that might make great plays.
Confirmed panelists include:
Brian Greene, pioneer of string theory and author of The Elegant Universe
Ira Flatow, host of "Science Friday" on NPR.
Robin Marantz Henig, contributing writer for the New York Times Magazine
Wilma Friedman,Rutgers University Neuroscientist
Janna Levin, theoretical cosmologist
Also attending will be EST/Sloan Mainstage playwrights Jacquelyn Reingold (String Fever, In Treatment), Cassandra Medley (Relativity) and Arthur Giron (Flight, Moving Bodies).

Proposals for this season's round of commission awards are due December 1, 2009. Extant scripts are due December 31, 2009.
The EST/Sloan Project has
been at the forefront of the wave of science-related theatre.
Plays originally commissioned by the EST/Sloan Project have
been produced at major venues around the country, including The Black Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, American Conservatory Theatre (San Francisco), The Empty Space Theatre (Seattle), Actors Theatre of Louisville and Williamstown Theatre Festival. The EST/Sloan
Project has also hosted symposia involving Pulitzer and Nobel prize-winning
scientists and authors, as well as award-winning playwrights.
It continues in its mission to bridge the gap between the
two cultures, science and the arts.
