Brittany K. Allen is a writer, performer, and proud member of Youngblood. Her play paradise city recently received its first reading via the 5 x 5 Playwrights salon. As a founding member of Rescue Agreement Theater, she devised material for Someone is Living in This House (The Connelly), and If (or when) the roof falls in... (CAP-21 Studios), among other projects. As part of the Carroll Simmons performance collective, she co-created Too Many Lenas 3: Let Them Eat Cake (ANTFEST, Ars Nova; Ice Factory, New Ohio), in which piece she also performed.
Britt’s fiction and essays have been published in/on BUST, Cretus, The Nervous Breakdown, Mercer Street and The Tishman Review, among other places. Her humor writing has been featured on Reductress and HelloGiggles. Acting-wise, recent credits include Let’s Play Play (Gameplay Festival, The Brick), Much Ado About Nothing (Barefoot Shakespeare) and In rooms such as these (Columbia Stages, Signature Center). Brittany also performs regularly with her sketch comedy team, Mudville.
As a playwright, Britt is drawn to work that is funny and gutting by uneven turns. When not theatre-making, she can be found racking up fines and making frenemies at the New York Public Library.
